The Alhambra opening hours have two different periods.
Summer (1 Apr - 14 Oct): 8:30AM - 8PM
Winter (15 Oct - 31 Mar): 8:30AM - 6PM
Night tours are available from 10PM to 11:30PM in the summer and from 8PM to 9:30PM in the winter.
Closing dates: the Alhambra is closed on December 25th and January 1st.
A regular visit to the Alhambra lasts around 3 hours.
The Alhambra is located in C. Real de la Alhambra, s/n, Centro, 18009 Granada, Spain.
There are two entrances to the Alhambra, one for groups and one for regular visitors, but they are very close to each other and are very well indicated. Please be aware that the Alhambra is on top of a hill, so it is recommended to use the official parking near the entrance. If you want to walk there, there are two options: a steeper but shorter road from the north, and a longer but easier road from the south.
Inside the Alhambra, you’ll find a café and small kiosks for quick snacks and drinks. For a proper meal, head just outside to Plaza Nueva or the Albaicín, where tapas bars and restaurants serve local dishes and regional wines.
There are several parking areas near the Alhambra, as well as resting spaces inside. The site also offers vending machines for small snacks and drinks and accessible bathrooms, as well as baby changing facilities.
The Alhambra sits in the heart of Granada, surrounded by a wealth of nearby attractions you won’t want to miss.
Just downhill lies the historic Albaicín neighborhood, with its winding Moorish streets and breathtaking views from the Mirador de San Nicolás.
A short walk brings you to Granada Cathedral and the Royal Chapel, where the Catholic Monarchs are buried.
For a taste of local life, wander through the bustling Alcaicería market or relax in the Arab baths.
Beyond the city, you can explore the Sacromonte caves, famous for flamenco shows, or venture into the Sierra Nevada mountains for hiking and skiing.
Tour operators often maintain ticket allocations even when the official website shows sold out status. Guided tours through platforms like Viator and Tiqets frequently offer same-day or next-day availability.
The Dobla de Oro ticket provides another option with its own separate allocation. This combo pass includes full Alhambra access plus additional Moorish sites throughout Granada's Albaicín district.
Night visits to the Nasrid Palaces may have availability when daytime slots are full. These atmospheric evening tours focus exclusively on the palace interiors under special lighting.
Same-day tickets are technically possible but extremely unlikely, especially during peak season. The official website releases canceled tickets at midnight local time, creating the only realistic opportunity for last-minute bookings.
Low season months like January and February offer slightly better chances. However, most travelers who attempt same-day purchases leave Granada disappointed.
Partial access tickets excluding the Nasrid Palaces have better same-day availability. These tickets provide access to the Generalife gardens and Alcazaba fortress only.
Guided tours represent the most reliable backup option when standard tickets are unavailable. Tour companies pre-purchase tickets in bulk and often have spots available even during peak demand periods.
The Granada Card offers the best value for multi-attraction visitors. This pass includes Alhambra entry plus access to other sites, public transportation, and sometimes restaurant discounts.
EU citizens under 12 years old receive free admission when accompanied by paying adults. Students and seniors may qualify for reduced rates with proper identification.
Group bookings of 20 or more people can access discounted rates through the official website. Educational groups receive additional reductions with advance documentation.
Several areas of the Alhambra complex remain free to visit without tickets. The outer grounds, towers along the walls, and general fortress areas provide views and historical context.
Local tour agencies in Granada sometimes hold last-minute allocations for walk-in customers. These agencies may have availability when online platforms show sold out status.
Night visit tickets focus exclusively on the Nasrid Palaces or the Gardens with special illumination. These tours offer a different perspective and may be available when daytime tickets are exhausted.
